Benromach Traditional [Feather’s Flight Review Set #11]

I wanted to review Benromach Origins. I have been told, by various books given to me with many 0s and 1s in them, that I should review all three of them.

However due to a mislabeling, there was only Benromach Traditional. Made up of ex-Bourbon casks (4/5s) and sherry casks (1/5s), this NAS has since been replaced by the Benromach 10. Which is against the current trend of replacing age statements with NAS.

I like that.

None the less, it’s still on a list. And I’m much obliged to drink the rest of this NAS so that there’s an age statement for the rest of you.

I’m kinda like a hero that way. Saving you from the rough stuff. I truly deserve a medal.

Colour: 5Y 9/8

Nose: Smoke, butter, cereal, spicy, citrus

Buttery and smoke. The sherry adds some spice (non-descript) and citrus.

My medal should have a giant Glencairn on it. And maybe a way to show I have a gigantic throbbing cock without overtly saying it.

Taste: Caramel, malt, buttery, apple, earthy

Good fall dram. has butter, caramel, and apples. There’s an earthiness that, when I point it out, you’re wondering if it affects it too much: It does work nicely here.

Yeah, make sure the medal is made from bronze.

Finish: Light raspberry, toffee, smoke, nutmeg, honey

Finishes with more of the sherry influence, some smoke, toffee, and spices coming through. The best part of it.

Just don’t finish on my medal.

Conclusion: So all joking aside, I don’t really deserve a medal. That was a joke.

This tastes similar, very similar, to the 10. Save for the fact it has more acid and this one has a better finish. It’s odd, I’m scoring these the same, not because they are the same dram (even with a similar process of making it), but because they are roughly equal in quality.

Both have smoke. Both have nice effects from the sherry and bourbon casks. Both are worth your time. This one has less alcohol. The other has more acid. It’s a good time all around.

And make sure you start on that medal.
