Tullibardine 225

I’m a sucker for a nice finish. That’s probably why I’m an ass man. Anyone can wear makeup or get their boobs done: Ass takes special work.

Which leads us, very awkwardly for those of you who are puritanical, into the whisky I’m reviewing for today:Tullibardine 225.

This is the standard Tullibardine whisky that’s then finished in 225 litre casks that used to contain Sauternes dessert wine from Chateu Suduiraut.

And that seems like a great time. Beyond whisky, rum, and the odd random dram, I enjoy sweet wines. My love of sweets and love of ass seem diametrically opposed, yet in a sweet wine finished whisky, it seems that I no longer need that Chocolate mold of Nicki Manaj’s butt.

Finally I can get rid of it. Honestly it was taking up too much room anyway. Good riddance!

Let’s see how this tastes, shall we? (The whisky, not the chocolate mold of the butt).

Colour: 5Y 8/8

Nose: Mango, floral, licorice, alcohol, grassy, butter

This is young. Quite young. The opposite of what I want in ass. Just so you know. Just so any agencies know as well. I have nothing to hide, nor do I want to make it seem like I have anything to hide.

No underage butts. No. Go somewhere else.

Also quite a bit of grass on this one. Reminds me of buffalo grass vodka. I like the nose, and given some time the alcohol harshness wears down quite a bit, leaving a nice Summer dram.

Taste: Butter, grass, grape, sweet potato, lemon, rosemary

Again, starts out with that grassy flavour. The ex-dessert wine and the earth mix in odd ways here.

Personally it works. For me. However I like sweet potato. And ass. That second one doesn’t apply to what I put in my mouth though, so skip over it. The rosemary or sweet potato notes were unique. Maybe not everyone’s cup of tea.

Finish: Grass, alcohol, grape, black pepper, raw pastry, lemonade

The finish, is, rough. Which is sad, because I had all these bum jokes. Maybe next time. Don’t want to make an ass out of myself now.

It’s a rough, almost Grappa like finish on this one. Where as the taste was nice, not great, and unique, and the nose grew on me, the finish on this makes me think it needed more time before it was done maturing.

Conclusion: Bias: I don’t like Highlands. And like ass.

This is an interesting dram. The idea of an earthy dram and some sweet aspects seems like it would work; and some would argue it worked in the Taste.

I would argue that it didn’t work in the finish, and that’s either due to a low Abv, low time in cask, or a mix of both. This comes off as young and brash, which is too bad. I like parts of it, though I wouldn’t buy a bottle.

Guess I’ll have to find my ass whisky somewhere else. Where’s that mold I threw out?
